Reopened attractions after the ES was lifted

While Japan was under a nationwide state of emergency due to the Covid-19 coronavirus (and even before it was declared officially) most tourist attractions and public facilities across Japan were temporarily closed. Since the the state of emergency was lifted on May 25, businesses in Tokyo have started opening up again. 

Here is the short list of some of the reopened attractions after the ES was lifted. But please be noted, the operating hours might different from the regular hours and should be double checked before visiting.

Miraikan – The National Museum of Emerging Science & Innovation

This family-friendly museum in Odaiba examines our daily lives through a scientific lens. It has one of the best entrances of all Tokyo museums; the impressive 6.5-metre Geo-Cosmos globe hanging from the atrium is fitted with 10,362 OLED panels on its surface, alternating between showing global weather patterns, cities and their populations, human migration movements and more.

The operating hours for now will be 10 AM to 5 PM.

Legoland Discovery Center

Another cool place to visit with kids in odaiba is Legoland discovery Center. This is a heaven for kids and their parents who love Lego constructors.

The operating hours for now will be 10 AM to 4 PM.

Edo-Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum

This museum gives you a unique opportunity to feel the atmosphere of Tokyo during the Edo era. All the facilities in the museum are made in the spirit of that period. Some of them original and some were recreated to give the public a chance to dive into the past and learn more about that time through architecture and design. 

The museum reopened its doors, but the operating hours might change daily. Please visit their website before visiting.

Hamarikyu Garden and Shinjuku Gyoen 

Two of the most famous and the most beautiful parks in Tokyo reopen after a quite some time. These are two spacious green parks where you can safely keep a social distancing and enjoy fresh air and beautiful nature without living central Tokyo. 

The operating hours for now will be 10 AM to 4 PM.
